Spring Blossoms Picture Frame

Size: to fit an 8” x 10” picture frame
This project makes a perfect gift — for a wedding present, for Mother’s Day, for a grandparent, for a baby girl, for Easter. The soft Blending Filament adds just a touch of light play, like dew-kissed flowers.
Materials needed:
- DMC Cebelia crochet cotton size 20 (50g per ball). I ball each pink #818 (A), light green #995 (B), and white (C)
- Kreinik Blending Filament, one spool each: Star Mauve 093 (BFA), Chartreuse 015 (BFB), and Starburst 095 (BFC)
- Size 9 steel crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- 8” x 10” wooden picture frame with a 1.5” wide border
- 36 (1/8)-inch in diameter pearls
- Sewing needle and white sewing thread
- Craft glue

Gauge:
Rose = 1 1/4 inches in diameter
Check gauge to save time
Pattern note: join rnds with a sl st unless otherwise stated
Rose Garland (make 4)
Rose
- Rnd 1 (RS): With 1 strand A and 1 strand BFA held tog, ch 1 (center ch), ch 4 more, [hdc, ch 2] 5 times in center ch, join in 2ndch of beg ch-4. (6 ch-2 sps, counting beg ch-4 as first hdc, ch 2)
- Rnd 2: [Sc, 3 hdc, sc] each ch-2 sp around, do not join. (6 petals)
- Rnd 3: Working behind petals of last rnd, sc in 2ndch of beg ch-4 or Rnd 1, ch 3, [sc in next unworked hdc of Rnd 1, ch 3] rep around, join in beg sc. (6 ch-3 sps)
- Rnd 4: [Sc, 5 dc, sc] in each ch-3 sp around, do not join. (6 petals)
- Rnd 5: Working behind petals of last rnd, sc in beg sc of Rnd 3, ch 4, [sc in next unworked sc of Rnd 3, ch 4] rep around, join in beg sc. (6 ch-4 sps)
- Rnd 6: [Sc, dc, 5 tr, dc, sc] in each ch-4 sp around, do not join.
- Row 7: Working behind petals of last rnd, sc in beg sc of Rnd 5, [ch 5, sc in next unworked sc of Rnd 5] 4 times, fasten off. (4 ch-5 sps)
1stSmall Leaf
- With 1 strand B and 1 strand BFB held tog. Ch 6, 2 sc in 2ndch from hook, * dc in next ch, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next ch *, 3 sc in last ch; working in rem lps across opposite side of foundation ch, rep from * to *, sc in same ch as beg sc, join in beg sc, sl st in first ch of first ch-5 sp on Row 7 or rose, fasten off.
2ndSmall Leaf
- Rep instructions for first small leaf, joining to 5thch of same ch-5 sp as first small leaf.
3rdSmall Leaf
- Rep instructions for first small leaf, joining to first ch of 4thch-5 sp or Row 7.
4thSmall Leaf
- Rep instructions for first small leaf, joining to 5thch of same ch-5 sp as 3rdsmall leaf.
First Large Leaf Chain
1st Large Leaf
- With 1 strand B and 1 strand BFB held tog, ch 8, 2 sc in 2ndch from hook, * dc in next ch, tr in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, tr in next ch, dc in next ch *, 2 sc in last ch, sl st in center ch of 3 unworked chs between either small leaf pair, sc in same ch as last sc; working in rem lps across opposite side of foundation ch, rep from * to *, sc in next ch, join in beg sc, do not fasten off.
2ndLarge Leaf
- Ch 8, 2 sc in 2ndch from hook, * dc in next ch, tr in next ch, 2 tr in next ch, tr in next ch, dc in next ch*, [sc, ch 1, sc] in last ch; working in rem lps across opposite side of foundation ch, rep from * to *, sc in next ch, join in beg sc.
Rem 2 Large Leaves
- Rep instructions for 2ndlarge leaf; at end of last leaf, fasten off.
Second Large Leaf Chain
1stLarge Leaf
- Rep instructions for first large leaf for first large leaf chain, joining to center ch of 3 unworked chs between rem small leaf pair.
2ndLarge Leaf
- Rep instructions for 2ndlarge leaf for first large leaf chain.
Rem 2 Large Leaves
- Rep instructions for rem 2 large leaves for first large leaf chain.
Lily of the Valley (make 8)
- Note: do not join rnds unless otherwise stated; mark first st of each rnd with a safety pin or other small marker.
- Rnd 1: With 1 strand C and 1 strand BFC held tog, ch 2, 6 sc in 2ndch from hook. (6sc)
- Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)
- Rnd 3: [Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] 3 times. (15 sc)
- Rnds 4-6: Sc in each sc around. (15 sc)
- Rnd 7: [Sc in each of next 3 sc, sc dec] 3 times. (12 sts)
- Rnd 8: *[{Sc, dc, ch 1} in next st, 2 dc in next st] rep around, join in beg sc, fasten off. (6 petals)
Posey (make 8)
- With 1 strand C and 1 strand BFC held tog, leaving a short length for finishing, ch 1 (center ch), [ch 3, dc, ch 3, sl st] 5 times in center ch, fasten off, leaving a short length for finishing. With ends left for finishing, tack 1 posey between 2ndand 3rdlarge leaf on each large leaf chain.
Finishing
- Gently press each rose garland from the wrong side to flatten.
- With sewing needle and white sewing thread, sew 1 pearl at the center of each rose and 6 pearls in a ring around center pearl.
- Sew 1 pearl at the center of each posey.
- Using photo as a guide, glue 1 rose garland across top border of rame and 1 across bottom border, turning up last leaf on each end of each garland to allow space for lilies-of-the-valley.
- Glue 2 lilies-of-the-valley at each end of each garland.
- Center rem 2 rose garlands along each side of picture frame and glue in place.
